Dannsair – Breton    Song Information

• Breton (France) – by Russ Doherty. Inspired by Breton bourees from the Atlantic coast of France. A waltz-type dance in 3/4. A quartet for flute, cello, violin and viola.
• Old Oak Tree (USA) – by Siobhan Doherty. Siobhan’s gorgeous but sad song about wanting love you can't have.
• Love You Til the End (Ireland) - by The Pogues. Used in P. S. I Love You - the movie with Gerard Butler. He's not giving up till she dies. Brian Kinsella sings in his best bedroom voice. Siobhan lends her voice also.
• Bedlam Boys (England) – Traditional English folk song about the first psychiatric hospital in London (The Bethlehem Mental Institute - Bedlam). From the late 1700's.
• Illnacullin (Ireland) – by Russ Doherty. An ode to Garnish Island, the Island of Holly in Bantry Bay, Glengarriff, County Cork. Beautiful gardens. We then follow up with two Trad reels: Glory Reel & Heathery Haystack
• Once I Looked For You (USA) – by Siobhan Doherty – A song of emigration and separation. A melody that won't go away.
• Poor Wayfarin' Stranger (Appalachia) – Traditional Appalachian folk song about wondering the world trying to find meaning.
• Races at Inch Strand (Dingle) – by Russ Doherty. The mile-wide and three-mile-long beach just outside of Dingle where the horse races were held in the movie Ryan's Daughter. Followed by another Russ tune: Reel on the Ha'Penny and Bucks of Oranmore (Trad).
• Music Tree (Nashville) – by Tim O'Brien & Darrell Scott. Children's song about learning music. Climbing up and down that Music Tree..
• Martle Blowy (USA) – by Jocelyn Tipplen - Tunes about the ocean.
• Fiddler Man (Irish flavor) – by Siobhan Doherty. The Queen fell in love with the traveling Fiddler Man who wasn't a man at all.
• Hole in the Hedge (Doolin) – Traditional. A reel we got from the playing of Martin Haye's, our favorite fiddler.The second tune is part of Mozart's A Major Flute Quartet, re-arranged and added to by Russ Doherty - we call it Wolfie's Jig.
• Miller of Drohan (Ireland) - Traditional. Some great tunes we got from Lunasa and our favorite guitarist - Donogh Hennessey.Followed by Jenny Dang the Weaver and Music for a Found Harmonium.
• Queen Mab (England) – by Russ Doherty. A hornpipe about the crazy Queen referred to in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
